Health Guarantee – Sonsy Australian Shepherds Home
At Sonsy Australian Shepherds Home, the health, safety, and lifelong well-being of every Australian Shepherd puppy we place with a new family are extremely important to us. All puppies adopted through sonsyaustralianshepherdshome.com are covered by a minimum 30-day health guarantee provided directly by the breeder.
We encourage all buyers to familiarize themselves with their state’s pet purchase and consumer protection laws, as rights and responsibilities may vary by location.
Pre-Departure Veterinary Exam & Buyer Options
Every Australian Shepherd puppy receives a comprehensive veterinary examination within ten (10) days prior to placement.
If your licensed veterinarian diagnoses a serious illness or chronic medical condition within 5–10 days of receiving your puppy, and that diagnosis conflicts with the breeder’s original health evaluation, you may choose one of the following options:
Return the puppy for a full refund
Return the puppy in exchange for another puppy of equal value
Return the puppy and receive reimbursement for veterinary expenses up to the puppy’s purchase price
If a signed and stamped veterinary health certificate has already been issued, certain remedies may be limited in accordance with applicable law.
Hereditary & Congenital Health Conditions
If a licensed veterinarian confirms that your puppy is affected by a hereditary or congenital condition that significantly impacts quality of life—or if such a condition results in death—you may select either a refund or replacement puppy, subject to availability.
Within 24–72 hours of adoption, buyers will receive the name, clinic address, and contact details of the veterinarian who examined the puppy prior to departure.
Failure to notify the breeder of a health concern within 72 business hours of discovery will void this health guarantee.
Compliance With U.S. Pet Protection Laws
Pet health protection laws vary by state. All breeders working with Sonsy Australian Shepherds Home comply fully with their state’s regulations and provide at least a 30-day health assurance period. If your state mandates a longer coverage period, that requirement will be honored.
We strictly prohibit falsification of veterinary records or misrepresentation of a puppy’s health and operate in full compliance with ethical and legal standards.
Extended Genetic Health Coverage
Some puppies may qualify for extended genetic health protection for confirmed hereditary conditions. Extended coverage applies only when conditions are verified through:
A licensed veterinarian
Official laboratory or diagnostic testing
This extended coverage does not include:
Routine veterinary care
Injuries or accidents
Illnesses caused by neglect, environment, or improper care
All puppies receive age-appropriate vaccinations and deworming before leaving our care. Buyers must schedule a veterinary exam within two (2) days of arrival to keep this guarantee valid.
Discovery of Serious or Life-Threatening Conditions
If a licensed veterinarian identifies a life-threatening or severe genetic defect during the initial examination, a replacement Australian Shepherd puppy will be offered (subject to availability) provided the breeder is notified within 24 hours.
To qualify:
The puppy must be returned to the breeder
All registration paperwork must accompany the puppy
A signed veterinary report confirming the diagnosis is required
Veterinary examination fees remain the responsibility of the buyer.
Conditions Not Covered by This Guarantee
The following common conditions are not covered:
Minor heart murmurs
Overbites or underbites
Undescended testicles
External parasites (fleas, ticks, mites)
Internal parasites (giardia, coccidia, worms)
Small or reducible hernias
Stress-related illnesses such as kennel cough
We are not responsible for Parvovirus or Canine Coronavirus diagnosed more than 48 hours after the puppy leaves our care, as these illnesses can be contracted through environmental exposure.
12-Month Genetic Health Guarantee
In addition to the initial health coverage, every Australian Shepherd puppy from Sonsy Australian Shepherds Home is backed by a 12-month genetic health guarantee, effective from the puppy’s date of birth.
This guarantee covers:
Life-threatening congenital defects
Verified hereditary genetic disorders
This guarantee does not cover:
Viral infections
Parasitic diseases
Heartworm
Nutritional deficiencies
Illnesses related to improper care or environment
If a qualifying genetic condition is confirmed, a replacement puppy of equal value will be offered (based on availability). Refunds are not provided under this guarantee.
A written veterinary report is required. In the event of death, a necropsy report must be submitted. Medical, diagnostic, transportation, or cremation expenses are not covered.
Registration & Spay/Neuter Policy
All companion Australian Shepherd puppies are sold with Limited Registration and must be spayed or neutered at the appropriate age recommended by your veterinarian.
Puppies sold with Full Registration for show or breeding purposes are not guaranteed to meet future show standards, breeding success, or fertility.
Vaccination Records & Ongoing Care
Each puppy leaves our home with:
Up-to-date vaccinations
Deworming treatments
Complete veterinary health records
Buyers are responsible for continuing the recommended vaccination schedule and routine veterinary care to protect their puppy’s long-term health.
Legal Agreement
In the event of a legal dispute between the breeder and the original buyer, the buyer agrees to be responsible for all legal and court-related expenses incurred by both parties. Any legal action must be filed within the breeder’s state and jurisdiction.
